Erectile dysfunction is a common sexual disorder in today’s time. According to research, about a third of people suffer from erectile dysfunction at some point in their lives, which increases with age.

In such a situation, when there is a lot of trend in the present era and it is believed that people can use it to correct their erectile dysfunction. So after all, how true this fact is and how treacherous CBD oils are, today we will know about it through this post.

How to Use CBD Oil for Erectile Dysfunction

What is erectile dysfunction?

If the appropriate hardness of the penis required for sexual intercourse is disturbed due to any reason, then this disorder is known as erectile dysfunction.

There are mainly 2 possible problems that men suffer in erectile dysfunction. Either there is the inability to achieve an erection, or the inability to maintain an erection due to which a person could achieve sexual fullness.

Causes of Erectile Dysfunction

Before going to the cause of erectile dysfunction, we have to understand how an erection happens. Whenever men are sexually excited, the flow of blood in their penis increases, due to which erection occurs.

Now if there is some kind of problem in the blood vessel which is transporting blood to the penis or due to some reason the blood flow is not able to flow properly, then in such a situation erectile dysfunction occurs. There are several reasons related to erectile dysfunction but the major ones are listed below:

  • Improve blood flow due to problems in blood vessels.
  • Defect in the erection controlling nerves.
  • Past medicine like antidepressants etc
  • Psychogenic ED
  • Food
  • Pollution (Minor)

CBD Oil (Cannabis Oil) and Erectile dysfunction

April 28 is a national holiday celebrating  Cannabis or marijuana culture. After reading those lines you might be wondering, what’s the impact of cannabis or marijuana on erections?

Does marijuana help or hurt erectile dysfunction? Well to help answer these questions I’ve collected the data from professional doctors and CBD experts.

Here is what they suggest on treating men with erectile dysfunction with cannabis or marijuana.

There has been a systematic review done in 2019 looking at the prevalence and risk of erectile dysfunction in cannabis users compared to controls.

Mechanism of CBD working

Overall what they found was their results showed that erectile dysfunction is twice as high in cannabis users compared to controls and there may be a couple of different mechanisms for this.

Mechanism 1:

So first is that we do have endocannabinoid receptors in the paraventricular nucleus of the hypothalamus which regulates erectile function. Interestingly enough, by the opposite mechanism, it could be improving sexual function because there are endocannabinoid receptors in the hypothalamus.

Mechanism 2:

The other mechanism by which this may be working is that there are endocannabinoid receptors on the corpus cavernosum which physiologically have a role in erections.

Survey on CBD

When they actually did a survey of 325 males using cannabis fairly recently in 2020, they reported that there was a correlation between increased frequency of cannabis use and increased male sexual function.

Specifically improved sexual satisfaction and lower prevalence of erectile dysfunction. So there’s a little bit of discrepancy there in terms of what the systematic review said and versus what the survey said.

I would go more by the survey as opposed to the systematic review. The other thing is what is found clinically. So according to doctors who have treated patients with erectile dysfunction, most commonly these patients are on some sort of medication to help them like Cialis and they do utilize CBD oil or other products.

However, CBD oil in itself does not serve as a substitute for the Cialis. So they do have to continue to take Cialis. As mentioned earlier, the CBDs do affect other factors in terms of desire, increase frequency, and what not but physiologically it does not impact erectile dysfunction in any way.

So talking exclusively about CBD Oil, it goes the same way. It helps in stimulation and other muscle contraction to create excitement but doesn’t work on the psychological level.

Is CBD oil good for Sexual Health?

There actually has been a decent amount of research when it comes to using CBDs for sexual health. Most of this research has been done on women. So let me go through the results that have been shown in research studies in the female population and then I’ll translate that to the male population as well.

However, there are a couple of different studies that I want to go through.

#Study 1:

A study was published in 2019 in the journal ” Sexual medicine” and overall they looked at the effect of CBD on overall sexual experience.

This includes specifically looking at a couple of different things like sex drive, arousal, orgasm, lubrication, pain during intercourse (of course because we’re dealing with a female population in this particular study), and overall sexual satisfaction.

So most women reported increases in sex drive improvement in orgasm, decrease in pain, but no change in lubrication. Now, within the same study among those who reported using CBD before sex, 68.5 percent stated that the overall sexual experience was more pleasurable. 60% noted an increase in sex drive and 52.8% reported an increase in satisfying orgasms.

So this can translate over to the male population as well based on what they reported. So the male patients also reported that their sexual experience is more pleasurable with the use of CBD oil.

They do notice an increase in sex drive and just overall increased sexual satisfaction.

#Study 2:

There have been other studies done on males and have similar results. This study was published in 2018 under the report “Psychology and sexuality.

The results showed again they were looking at the same thing as the effect of CBD on the sexual experience. 53.5 percent of respondents noticed an increase in sexual enjoyment 44.9 percent noticed an increase in orgasm intensity and then 31.6 percent noted an increase in desire.

# Study 3:

Another study fairly dated from back in 1974 and it was published in the journal of “Sex research” but again in this in this study, it was found 57.8 percent of male respondents reported that sexual desire was increased and that sexual enjoyment was increased 42.9 of the time.

Patients Report To Doctors On Personal Experience

In terms of what patients have reported to doctors for both male and female. It’s been found improved libido, greater sex drive, and desire. This is especially the case in patients who have had their libido impacted by prescription medications.

So for instance, if they’re on SSRIs for anxiety which can have a tremendous impact on libido. They find that incorporating CBD into their regimen helps to improve their libido.

There’s heightened sensitivity and this is the case with both males and females. There’s also a more prolonged and greater intensity of orgasm and greater frequency of sexual activity. Now,  most of these reports received by doctors were from patients ages 50 and older. We’re talking all the way through age 70 years old.

Are there any detrimental effects noticed from using CBD or CBD Oils?

This is an interesting question. When it comes to male health, there have been reports based on both research and clinical studies where it’s been suggested that CBD use does adversely impact, like the sperm count. However, instead of consuming, if you are on the side of massaging CBD oils then the effects are limited to reactions on skin and irritations.

There was a study done in 2019 on humans and basically, they collected semen samples from 662 men between 2000 and 2017. What they found was that the CBD users had significantly higher sperm counts compared to men who never used CBD.

So there are perceptions out there that CND use can potentially be detrimental especially when it comes to sperm count or when it comes to male health. However, this particular study sort of puts that misconception to rest.

Is CBD or THC better for sexual health?

Specifically, when it comes to sexual health you do need THC. It’s not just the CBD alone that impacts sexual health, is what professional doctors say. So predominantly the patients that doctors have treated, they have found that those who have overall experienced greater sexual satisfaction, have been using CBD products as opposed to hemp-based products.

The Final Verdict

So overall CBD Oils are good for sexual health but in a limited way. It is not necessary that every male or female using or consuming CBD will notice any improvement in their sexual health.

However, if you want to go with the majority Or that according to the researches and studies, is being found that CBD is actually helpful in boosting sexual drive and improving sexual health for both males and females. Other medicines for improving sexual health like Cenforce 100, Fildena 100, Vidalista 20

In a nutshell, we would recommend you to go for CBD oil, but it is highly recommended to all the readers to consult your doctor prior to use.
